There are poor sight lines here for crossing safely. There is a traffic island but I think it needs looking at more closely to see if there is a safer option. Maybe something to slow down the traffic turning into Osborne Road.

This is the end of a thoroughfare from Osborne Road to the Common. There are lots of people crossing the road here (especially young families and dog walkers) and the road is very busy. I think a traffic island is needed here.

Really poor cycle parking facilities at this ferry terminal. No enclosed waiting area for cyclists. And you're not allowed inside the terminal building with your bike.

Pavement is too narrow for two way traffic. Pavement should be widened and traffic made one-way up to Waverley Grove junction.

Proper pedestrian crossing with lights is the only solution as that will allow safe crossing and stop traffic speeding without a care about people waiting patiently to cross, it also keeps traffic moving. Zebra type crossing is no good on a busy road as people assume vehicles are able to stop at the blink of an eye….. only proper lights at crossing gives both pedestrians and traffic some modicum of safety.

This filter onto the Esplanade needs to be marked into two lanes, for right and left turners - it's wide enough. Currently, right turners trying to cross the traffic often block both lanes, causing traffc tailbacks and needlessly delaying left turners.

Make Duisburg one way to then also make the seafront one way, that way you could actually have more parking on Duisburg if you want by being perpendicular, and you could introduce/improve wide formalised cycle lanes that are safer between the parked cars and traffic.

This entrance to Kingston Park needs to be made wider. Lots of pedestrians and cyclists use it though it is only wide enough for one at a time.

Make a tunnel through the ramparts here using the existing derelict arched structure. To avoid the need to cycle over the Norway Road bridge.

Drop Kerb required on north side of Herbert Street to allow wheelchair users to access on and off footway to travel on eastern side of Flathouse road

The filter from St. Helen's Parade onto the Esplanade is wide enough for two lanes, one for left turns and one for right turns. These need to be marked. At present drivers often drive to the extreme left of the space when waiting to turn right. This endangers cyclists and drivers who believe the front car must be turning left, so themselves come right up to the line on the right side to turn right.

Very narrow gate through to Whitcombe gardens

Cycle path does not run continuously past South Parade Pier. Cycles are forced into the main traffic flow.
Need to extend the dedicated cycle path all the way along the seafront as part of the new Sea Defence works.

Remove northbound traffic access which would allow repositioning of pedestrian crossing further away from the corner of an already narrow path where it restricts tasing [passing?] of pedestrians and cyclists.

From Anchorage Road to Farlington the pavement is not wide enough for both cyclists and pedestrians. Cyclists cannot use the road as it is too busy and too dangerous with the large vehicles used.

Keep left signs needed all the way down the road. The path currently isn't wide enough for cyclists and pedestrians to have separate lanes so sharing the path is better but bikes and people need to be reminded to stay on the left and not wander or take up the whole path

This is really bumpy and badly surfaced, it needs relaying for bikes

Most of this cycle lane/footpath is a bit narrow or you have to go round lamp posts. A fence between the path and road would be better and help cyclists feel safer. Cycling towards traffic going 50mph is scary when there are other people on the path

This path is far too narrow for the use of both walkers and cyclists especially during termtime

Problem is difficult for cyclists to leave and remain on the road to use the cycle path over the bridge, particularly for those travelling West to east

The way through here is now closed, would like to see a cycle and walking path through here to link the Eastern Rd to the seafront

Move the cycleway away from the road towards the shoreline whilst there is the opportunity because of the sea defences work. Same applies for a cycleway. I can't understand why this opportunity was not taken earlier as it may be too late now that the work has started between Anchorage Rd and Burrfields Rd.

Pavement too narrow to be shared with cyclists. Build a new shared pedestrian/cyclist bridge - try to get Aquind to stump up a good share of the money so they can use it for their cables as probably cheaper than a cable tunnel!

The cycle path along Eastney esplanade is dangerous to pedestrians and cyclists. Pedestrians get out of their car with families and don’t realise / forget there is a path there. Motorists get aggressive when cyclists go on road to avoid this.

Pedestrians are running the gauntlet trying to avoid cyclists who are cycling too fast given the number of walkers around.

Entrance to car park is much too "flared" allowing drivers to turn into car park at high speed. Needs to have a raised "continuous" path across entrance to both slow drivers and reinforce priority of people walking and riding bikes on path.

The best solution is complete separation of cycles and walkers from all other traffic and this can only achieved by building a two cycle path as well as a footpath on the eastern side of the A2030. With crossing points on the A2030 located at the traffic lights.

Hayling Avenue needs to be one way for cars (possibly in conjunction with Tangier Road). It'd be a good road to cycle along if not for all the confusion

If there was a cycleway along this island to the pedestrian crossing to the north, getting on and off this island for a north south journey would be made much simpler and reduce the temptation to use the exits without crossing control.

Short stretch of public road from Rodney Rd roundabout to mini roundabout to private Union Rd and Partnership Park should be 20mph

St Mary’s Rd from round about to entrance to Kingston Cemetery should be made into a 20mph zone
This can be justified as the bridge is quite steeply humped near entrances to Whitcombe Gardens, St Mary's House Estate and new entrance to the Kingston prison site and proposed new pedestrian
crossings.

Provide cycle lane on north side of St Mary’s Road railway bridge by removing unused paving on the south side of the road over the bridge, realigning the central white line and marking a cycle way on the north side of the road over the railway bridge.

Cycle contraflow through the one way section

Cycle markings (going south) should be implemented on each lane as cyclists still have the same legal right to ride in these lanes as drivers don't think they do especially when going towards Northern Parade getting beeped at because I choose to cycle not pollute the planet.

Someone has suggested removing accesss for cars as they can come down the M275. This is an absolutely ridiculous idea as this is a main road through the centre of Portsmouth. To suggest traffic should use the M275 clearly shows that there is no understanding of the reasons why traffic uses this route and will only increase congestion on other roads and cause more rat-runs. Additionally there is not sufficient foot / cycle / bus traffic to warrant this change. Absurd idea!

The path is very worn down, muddy and puddly. It needs lots of gravel to fill in potholes and create a safe, clean and level footpath,

Compulsorily purchase the strip of land next to the cycle path in Harbourside Park, remove the hedge and widen the path.

The cycle way through the gate needs to be marked as there are often lorries parked obstructing the way past the gate.

There are always vehicles parked on the pavement/cycle way here - always. All the houses have driveways and there is plenty of parking in Hamilton Road.

The speed of traffic is too fast at this point for pedestrians and cyclists trying to cross the road. Have 30 mph speed limit, larger pedestrian /cyclist refuge in the road, and ideally a pelican crossing.

This area is a real worry when I cycle with my daughter as you have cars at 40 mph+ and a narrow path for cyclists and pedestrians to share. One mistake and it could be disastrous.

This 'cyclepath' is too narrow to be two-way dual use. The corner by the roundabout is a blind bend with a dropped kerb shortly after northbound which suggests crossing is OK there. This means it is common to cycle around this bend and find a bunch of pedestrians standing all over the path waiting to cross.

This is NOT a cycle lane and should remain as a pedestrian footway only. It is too narrow for a shared use path and the sight-lines are terrible due to the dockyard walls. It is impossible to see cyclists until they are almost on top of you and they are often travelling at speed around here (either late for work or trying to get higher up the Strava ranking).

Slow the traffic from Spar shop to ferry, it’s very dangerous here.

Victoria Park makes a pleasant link, with Guildhall Square from Southsea via Unicorn Gate tunnel, but crossing of Bishop Crispian Way difficult

In the redevelopment of Tipnor could a cycle/pedestrian link between the promenade at the Mountbatten and Tipnor Lane be prioritised.

Some parts of the cycle way going north are dangerous and frightening - if another cyclist is come from the north and you are going north you forced very close to the kerb edge with cars and lorries passing you at 70mph the lorries almost suck off cycle way with their slip stream. The cycle way needs to be independent totally away from the road along the shore line before some one is killed

As the 1st green on the golf course no longer follows the roadside as it did many years ago the area here could be better utilised to create wide pathway and cycle ways with separation. In addition the light at Airport service road could include pedestrian/cycle safe crossing as at Anchorage park lights

Markings on the path to separate cyclists and pedestrians, keeping the path safer for all.

Need to REMOVE the recently installed cycle traffic lights. Since these have been installed traffic flow in ALL directions has been reduced dramatically and congestion is ridiculous. In addition the 'intelligent' traffic light system isn't! Numerous times I have sat at Copnor Road (southbound) and Stubbington Avenue (northbound) when all other roads are empty for up to a minute. This junction is now a farce and vans / taxis are even going through red lights once the cycle lights are green as they are clearly fed up with waiting for so long. If it wasn't illegal I would be tempted to do the same. This needs to bo sorted as a priority and will cost nothing.

Develop a sustainable path/boardwalk around / across Eastney Lake, to link Ferry Road to the path by the canal lock (near to Thatched House pub).

This was once a useful and safe route. Since the sea defence wall has been built and the cycleway removed it's a danger to all users with no delineation between users. There will be a serious accident here soon.

Path is churned up by cyclists making it unusable for walkers. Keep walkers and cyclists apart. Improve the path.

I have said this a number of times. One way systems where there is a dedicated cycle and bus lane would make cycling so much safer. Parking on both sides of the road is a cycling nightmare.

Needs a proper crossing there's not enough room for a family to cross safely and they are forced to wait in the middle until it's safe to cross

This is perhaps the narrowest section of the pavement and allows no margin for error from either cyclist or driver - either would result in (another) serious accident.

Widen cycle path and barrier from traffic. Reduce speed of traffic to 30mph the whole length of Eastern Road.
